UC Berkeley Professor Ken Goldberg and Ayorkor Korsah Asst. Professor of Computer Science at Ashesi University in Accra, Ghana would like makers to participate in the African Robotics Network (AFRON) design challenge, which seeks to establish a new class of affordable robotics for the classroom. Existing platforms are often too expensive for students in Africa. And honestly, we’ve heard the same thing from teachers, parents and students in America as well.

Here’s some information about AFRON and its mission:

Since it launched on 1 May 2012, AFRON has 260+ members from 25 countries including Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, Algeria, South Africa, Egypt, Tanzania, Cameroon, and Ethiopia, as well as affiliated members from US, Switzerland, UK, France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, and Argentina.
