I had been browsing the Asciimation site on a tip from epic NZ maker Simon Jansen when I came across this charming port of the classic Apple II game Taipan. Jansen managed to cram a couple of Arduinos, some batteries, a custom keypad, and a screen into a hollowed-out first edition bound copy of the book. It’s a fully-functional self-contained portable version of the game. It even has a video-out port so you can play it on a larger screen. You may remember Simon from his previous handy work, the Steam-powered record player.
