That’s No Moon… That’s a Pumpkin!

With Halloween rolling around soon, it seems appropriate to feature a geek-tastic decoration such as this pumpkin made to look like the Death Star. The downside is that the pumpkin is not real, but the upside is that it won’t rot so you can show it off to trick-or-treaters for years to come.

Etsy vendor LuckyCricketART created this one-of-a-kind piece and meticulously painted it with UV reactive paint so it will glow under a black light. I’m afraid this Death Star will be quite operational when your costumed friends come…

Hi. This is Cricket. I’m the one who painted this pumpkin. Wanted to thank you for featuring it in your blog. This LABOR OF LOVE took almost 20 hours to complete. It is indeed UV-reactive, but worth noting is the fact that the windows and highlights on the Superlaser Focus Lens are all painted with UV-reactive AND Glow-In-The-Dark paint, so although it does glow with an eerie lavender hue and the windows, etc are all bright greenish under black light, if you turn off ALL the lights, the details glow in the dark as well. I hope a TRUE Star Wars fan (like myself) will appreciate its uniqueness & the work that went into it. I painted it on a fake pumpkin so that whomever does buy it will be able to enjoy it for a LONG LONG TIME. :) thanks again for validating my heroic efforts to complete this project.
