Miguel Valenzuela’s awesome Pancake Bot was one of the highlights of Maker Faire New York, with countless pancakes served up to swarms of adoring fans, not missing a beat. However, international travel (Miguel and his family live in Norway) was not so kind, and the bot was utterly smashed (see the “after” photo after the jump). Good news, Miguel is on the job with all sorts of ideas on how to build on the robot’s success. Including, presumably, rebuilding it!

Perhaps making a video about “[name_of_airline] breaks Pancake Bots” might assist in raising funds for the reconstruction.
Man, that is total destruction. So sad, but I am sure Pancake Bot: The Resurrection will be a blockbuster!
It is made of lego after all… You can rebuild it.
Ouch. We had some breakage to a couple of demo units we brought back from MFNYC, but they weren’t destroyed.
Dang, that is some unreal destruction!! Good luck, Miguel.
Hi everyone, just want to clear things up a bit. We had to pack up PancakeBot in a hurry because we had a 10:20 flight to catch out of JFK after Maker Faire (which rocked BTW) so we didn’t put in the proper time required to pack it correctly. That being said, I was still a bit surprised when I got home to see it in pieces. It took a couple of hours to put back together and it’s back in action. We start doing a PancakeBot class in November for kids and yes, we are improving it too.

Thanks for the well wishes.
Miguel
Here’s a link to a time lapse of the partial rebuild. Maia included.
