TechShop‘s newest store is now under construction in Pittsburgh’s Bakery Square. With our public opening planned for February, we want to hear from Pittsburgh area makers who’d love to help other makers and aspiring makers build their dreams. If you, or someone you know, would like to join our community as TechShop staff, see the contact information below. Our plan is to staff the store team entirely with local Pittsburgh makers, starting with the General Manager position highlighted below:
General Manager
As the General Manager of TechShop Pittsburgh you will plan, deploy and manage programs to launch and grow a world-class, open access DIY workshop and prototyping studio serving Pittsburgh’s burgeoning maker community. The ideal candidate will bring experience and skills that blend design, making, fabricating and hacking of physical things along with experience managing resources and building, inspiring and coaching smart, highly creative teams of people to achieve goals while exceeding customer and community expectations. You’ll leverage your experience and relationships with local makers, artists, hacker spaces, companies, universities, schools, museums and civic groups to drive membership and engage the maker community with relevant events, workshops and programs. We’re also hiring Instructors, Dream Consultants, Event Sales Rep, Education and Event Coordinators and Front Desk Staff.
If you’re interested in applying, you can fill out this online form.

I cannot wait for them to open. I went down there at lunch the other day to check it out. I saw a freshly boarded over area that I assume is the site under construction. I wanted to drill a hole in the OSB so I could see inside.
Thanks for the enthusiasm Christian. In a few weeks we’ll remove some of that plywood so you’ll be able to see more of the shop as it tales shape. We’ll also be throwing an evening meetup a couple weeks before we open. If you’d like to receive TechShop Pittsburgh updates, including information on TechShop Pittsburgh founding memberships, just ping us at pittsburgh@techshop.com.
