From afar, the land art of German artist Cornelia Konrads demands a double-take, as materials native to the surrounding landscape appear to defy gravity and levitate, frozen in a snapshot moment. Upon closer inspection, the fine wire and fishing line she employs come into focus. Pictured above is Moment of Decision, an installation adjacent to a playground in Sweden. Pictured below (in order) are The Gate in France, Passage in Germany, Tree Memorial in Connecticut, as well as a detail shot of Tree Memorial.

There are many more of her awe-inspiring site-specific pieces on her website, along with close-up detail shots and some in-progress shots.

This short video profile of Konrads gives further insight into what inspires her and how she does her builds:

Her work is stunning. I especially love the piece with the stone walls. It made me feel as though some deity was placing it there from the heavens.

  4. A perfect fusion of art, craft and nature… Great job. Would like to know more about your works..
