Congratulations to Ryan Keefer of North Carolina for being the winner in our 3D printer giveaway. We’ve been running this sweepstakes in support of our popular Ultimate Guide to 3D Printing. Ryan beat out over 8,000 other entrants to win a MakerBot Dual Extruder 3D printer.

Ryan is an an Interactive Developer for Centerline Digital in Raleigh, N.C. where he “works in acronyms and languages like HTML, CSS, jQuery, and PHP.” He says, of his tech obsessions, “I’m a gadget freak, and way too often, an early adopter.” When not working in or playing with high technology, Ryan likes running, cycling, and spending time with his family. Here he is in a swanky professional photo with his son. He and his wife have a new Keefer due in a month.

He was thrilled, and momentarily skeptical, when we called to tell him he had won. “I’m so psyched to have the printer, but I’m having a hard time deciding what to make first. I’ll probably start creating a few models for the home office and the desk at work — space shuttle, DeLorean, and some sort of cycling sculpture. Once I get comfortable with the machine, I’m looking forward to prototyping some gadget ideas and accessories, but to be honest, it’s just going to be fun for my family, creating keepsakes, toys, and random things.”

We’re happy that our printer found a great home. We’ll be checking in with Ryan to see how he and the printer are getting along.
