OK, technically it’s not his robot. He reminded me there’s a big team behind it that he was a part of. Still, I couldn’t resist the rhyme in the title of this post (and heck, it is Family Friday)!
My stepson wrote in to tell me that Boston Dynamics’ latest upgrade to Big Dog is public and out in a new video. He designed and implemented the controller that enables this new feature: using the strength of Big Dog’s legs and torso to make the arm stronger. The video shows Big Dog throwing cinder blocks. While this could make for a fun game of catch, I think this would be pretty useful if you needed to move some supplies to the top of a hill or building quickly.
