MAKEZINE_1MonJolt_BadgeOur drumming overlords have arrived in the form of Arduino-driven LEGO Bionicle percussion-bots and an iPad MIDI sequencer app, courtesy of Italian maker and sound producer Giuseppe Acito. I don’t need to say much really, the video below speaks beats for itself. I’ve already watched it twice, and can’t wait to see episode 2! More photos available on the Opificio Sonico Flickr.

  1. The little robots playing mechanical things like the bells is quite cool. The ones playing electronic instruments like the drum machine is a little too rube goldbergish for me. I’d prefer to see those sounds being played electronically by the sequencer.

What a clever and amusing video. Made my afternoon!

  3. This is entirely awesome.

  4. Very nicely done. I really like the ones on the drum machine, it adds a bit of fun to a normally mechanical/electronic rhythm section. Kudos!!!

  5. Oh my gosh that is so cool and creative! I dont know how you come up with things like this. Whenever im trying to think up a cool arduino project, i am always left blank minded. when i see something cool like this, i have to go and try it for myself. great job.

  6. Very cool. This could be a nice way to teach kids several disciplines at the same time while incorporating cool LEGO figurines, which btw my son relates too on the deepest of levels. Any plans to release some of the blueprints for how this is achieved? Nice work.

I never thought I would apply the word “cute” to little killer looking robots, but that made me smile big time.
