Calling all robots and the people who love them: MAKE is hosting its first International Robot Meetup Thursday, April 25, in the MAKE offices and live on Google+.  Joining us on a special Google+ hangout on air at 6pm will be David Lang and Eric Stackpole, co-founders of the OpenROV underwater robot project; Judy Aime’ Castro, creator of the CoffeeBot; MAKE engineer Eric Weinhoffer reporting on this past weekend’s RoboGames; RobotGarden’s Andra Keay; and other exciting guests.

The meetup coincides with the release of MAKE’s Volume 34 which just happens to be all about robots. It includes the Open ROV project on the cover, Judy’s CoffeeBot project, and many other exciting robot-related projects. If you’re in the neighborhood, stop by MAKE’s HQ (1005 Gravenstein Hwy North, Sebastopol, CA 95472) for some robot fun starting at 6pm. If you’re a member of a hackerspace or school robot club, or a real robot, sign up to participate in the meetup right here. Everyone who registers will get  a free PDF download of MAKE’s Volume 34. Once you download the PDF (which will be available until midnight Friday), you will automatically be signed up to win one of two Rovera robots. You’ll also get 15 percent off a Rovera 2WD or 4WD kit until Sunday at midnight. Enter the code: ROBOT to take advantage of the offer.

MAKE Volume 34: Join the robot uprising! As MAKE's Volume 34 makes clear, there’s never been a better time to delve into robotics, whether you’re a tinkerer or a more serious explorer. With the powerful tools and expertise now available, the next great leap in robot evolution is just as likely to come from your garage as a research lab. The current issue of MAKE will get you started. Explore robot prototyping systems, ride along with the inventors of the OpenROV submersible, and learn how you can 3D-print your own cutting-edge humanoid robot for half the price. Plus, build a coffee-can Arduino robot, a lip balm linear actuator, a smartphone servo controller, and much more
