anyone know of any good programs for recording streaming audio on linux? I wanted to record it the stream from our local radio station to listen later, but I don't know of any utilities to do it.

Yes,
Audacity-> mult-platform audio editor and recorder. Records streams just fine!

Just do not record hours and hours on end. Save once and awhile...
