A web server is software that continuously runs on a computer and allows other computers to download documents from it. this no "hack" or anything, this is just primitive introduction to installing Apache. No big deal, and nothing special.

A Mac Mini makes a perfect home web server since it's low-power, relatively quiet, and runs well headless thanks to SSH and VNC built into the operating system. Installing MySQL and PHP are brainless, and you can have a server up and running without the security problems of Windows in about five minutes.

jacek- not everything is a hack, many people who aren't very technical just need a how to get started. while it's not special for some, others might find this useful and build on this.
