Remember the Apple /// as well. The slightly problematic brother of the Apple ][, it overheated a lot, and Apple reccommended picking it up to about a foot above the table, and dropping it to help the chips resettle into the board.
Also, some 3rd party companies made special fan attachments for the Macintosh (128 or 512k) and for the Mac Plus, both of which were manufactured sans fan.
Overheating is just a rite of passage in the tech world, methinks. So is electrocuting yourself 3 times in a row on an open PowerMac 6100 while trying to put in another fan to KEEP it from overheating (I knew I shoulda unplugged it, but that was my DEDICATED server...)

I ran a BBS on one of the original C64 models... burned up two power supplies until I realized my solution was right in front of me. Well, it was right under the computer... the BAR FRIDGE that the 1541 drives sat on top of. Sit the brick inside the fridge, push the door shut, and never had another heat failure.
