Wow. One of the projects is Complete Homemade Gasoline Engine. My mom didn't let me even put gas in the lawnmower myself until I was 14.

This book, and it's three successors, are available in print from Lee Valley Tools in a nicely bound set. It's not very expensive and makes for wonderful bedtime reading. http://www.leevalley.com/wood/page.aspx?c=2&p=32453&cat=1,46096,46100

Years ago my father handed down a copy of The Boy Mechanic (Book 3, I believe) to me. It was one of my favorite books. When I got my MAKE subscription I couldn't help but think of the similarites to it and The Boy Mechanic. It's good to see they still have them for sale.
