I actually made a cigar box guitar last weekend. So far I haven't been able to convince them to let me make a spud-gun but I've made plenty of mini-marshmallow guns =) If it wasn't so darn cold out I would love to do a Kite Aerial Photography demo. Awhile back there was a killer bike light project made mostly from home depot components. Perhaps not for everyone, but I was able to easily find the parts at my local HD

If these are suposed to be how-tos oriented toward making gifts, you could always do about how to turn a quick-and-dirty bookshelf (laminated project boards, brackets, etc) into an actually giftable bookcase (stain, trim, etc).

That was my Home Depot Bike Headlamp Project, glad it worked out. I've also used a lot of Home Depot products in my School Bus RV Conversion Project. I used to work next to the HD in Waltham, MA and miss walking over there for HD hot dogs for lunch, keep up the good work Homer! - Jake

hensonkid: It doesn't have to be making a gift, it could just be making something and showing what you can use different tools for. Either showing off what is being made or showing off what tools you use to make it is fine. If I'm not making anything I will just do fun stuff with a Dremel usually, just showing off how much you can really do with it.
SO anything that uses any kind of powertool to make is fine, it would just be easier to not have to leave the store to get parts to make something (mainly because I don't have to pay for anything that is used in the store =)

One thing that was fun was making a robot costume from Home Depot parts.. We had a "Robot Ball" a few years back here in Columbus and a lot of the costumes (parts of mine included) were cobbled together from Home Depot stuff.
