Bonlebon writes in about the arcade cabinet he built - "My Mame cabinet, the Procrastination Station. Time from deciding to do it until finished project: about 6 months. Money spent: way too much. It was a lot of fun though. I still have a few things to finish up, but it's definately playable." Nice work! Link.

no offense to this builder, but for some reason all the MAME cabinets that make headlines or get on slashdot or on g4tv or here, are not of the highest caliber, im not saying mine is perfect, but there are much nicer MAME cabinets than this one out there,
please check out arcadecontrols.com for tons of examples (good and bad)
not all MAME cabs have huge control panels that are larger than the cabinet and boomboxes mounted to the top, a lot of them are modified, re-used arcade cabinets from 'back in the day'. the cabinet in question is by no means close to the worse end of the spectrum, i just feel that all the cabinets that do get attention arent the ones that we should be showcasing. and are giving people an opinion that homemade MAME cabinets are ugly unwieldy monstrocities with 20 joysticks and 500 buttons that no-one aside from the builder could ever use on their own. when in reality there are a lot of very nice scratch built and converted MAME cabinets out there.
just my 2 cents, and yes i have built a MAME cab, 4 to be exact, and each one is nicer than the last and harder to tell that it isnt a regular oldschool game.
