Remeber when we posted about a new Sony eBook reader? Here's a photo of the new Sony eBook (e-Ink) reader "The Sony Reader, an eBook device with electronic-ink technology created by E Ink. It's similar to the Librie product previously distributed in Japan." Link. I have a feeling that it might be a better idea to eBay one, mod it and then make your own books (HOW TO here) but I'm going to stay cautiously optimistic that the book purchasing might not be as dead on arrival as the previous version.

Wasn't there some sort of Taiwanese ebook reader that was supposed to have been released a couple of months ago? Was I dreaming that?

Yeah, PT I'm with you on Sony Connect being bad news . . . but RSS + JPEG + PDF sounds like they're supported, too. I'd love to be able to read tech books on this thing, especially if you can bookmark / somehow store notes, search, etc.
Note that it looks Windows-only (act surprised here).
The display tech looks fantastic, so you can bet this is the first of many.

It doesn't look like the US version will have the qwerty keyboard. Is this a big deal? How useful is the keyboard on the Japanese version?

i think the keyboard would have been handy for search and notes, but i didn't use it much.

Are there any readers on the market that allow you to annotate? I am a compulsive note-taker and I can't bear the thought of not being able to write in the margins.
