Apple iPod updater and old iPods...

Img413 186
Ok, here's something to consider before you update those old iPods - a lot of people are reporting that the new iPod updater is killing their old iPods. I stopped updating my older iPod(s) and pretty much just run iPod Linux on those, but if you do update check out all these threads, posts and concerns. It looks like you can always roll back, but eventually newer versions of iTunes likely won't work with older iPods. Link.

Thanks for picking up this story. I've been writing about it for a couple weeks now, trying to get it some attention in the blogosphere.

Hi to everyone who has suffered the same fate as I have: their iPods have not worked since downloading the 1-10-06 updater.

Apple so far has provided us with no solution or fix.

I've come up with my own solution to the problem but it's a long post so you can read about it here:
