MAKE Flickr photo pool member Jay Dugger has a photo of "TiVO" for you car, it looks like he turned a personal recorder - "The DejaView Camwear (a device that records constantly) into a BlackBox for cars. At the press of a button it writes the previous thirty seconds to disk. Just the thing in case of an accident." Link.

Cool!

Why not pair it with a 360 degre lens (like here:http://www.0-360.com/index.asp?ID=1153) and get a 360 view of everything around the car.

Also, hook it up to your car alarm, and take video of the thief. But you'd need to make sure the hard disk isn't stolen.
