Maker Faire News — Robot Magazine joins the fun

2005-Winter-Botmagcover
We are delighted to announce that Robot Magazine has joined us as a Pavilion Producer of Maker Faire. Specifically, they are helping to plan the robotics pavilion, blowing life into the robotics program, recruiting many well known personalities in the robotics arena, organizing robotics exhibitors and sponsors, and attracting some of the most influential robotics associations and special interest groups to Maker Faire. Tom Atwood, Editor-In-Chief of Robot Magazine and program chair of the robotics program is working with the Maker Faire team and robotics Makers, clubs, vendors and educators to help orchestrate a truly delightful program of workshops, demonstrations and presentations throughout the Faire.

Just a sampling of the many folks you can expect to see in the Maker Faire Robotics program include:

  • Adam Savage, Jamie Hyneman and Grant Imahara of Discovery Channel’s MythBusters.
  • Dave Calkins – President of the Robotics Society of America and founder of Robolympics.
  • Dr. Ken Berry – founder of Robo Educators.
  • Ken Gracey – founder and President of Parallax.
  • BotBall.

…And a growing list of Robotics organizations, including First Robotics Competition (FRC), FIRST LEGO and FIRST VEX LEGO MindStorms!

By the way, I interviewed the MythBusters gang for a feature on starwars.com if any of you would like to read it:

Gotta love the Mythbusters. Science and fun put together in a great package. If you’re interested, we did an interview with Adam Savage on Technorama podcast back in October.
