It is really easy to mod those regular o' t-shirts into something more funky fresh. T-shirt fabric is the best to work with because it is the most forgiving for mistakes. Plus who doesn't have tons of those techy tees to test out on? All you have to do is copy the shape from one of your favorite stylish t-shirts or take a t-shirt reconstruction class over at Stitch Lounge. This modified MAKE shirt I created is made with 2 Medium tees (It can also be done with one XL if you want to have more of a drape, or less thickness for the banding.) Zig-zag stitching on the edges in contrasting black thread makes it fun and gives the sleeves a nice little "flutter". I'd love to be sent a t-shirt to recreate.. I'd make it into a tunic by resizing it and taking in the side seams, then i'd puff the sleeves and reattach them to the shirt. I'd insert a really long zipper in the back or in the front of the tunic (not really for any purpose, but just cause it'd look nifty) and then I'd use the extra fabric to make a flower pin to go on the tunic. So send it to me, dammit!
