The caption describes him as catching up on the headlines in the shade and ice water as he comfortably reads the paper and soaks in one of these giant grey tubs (above). Rubbermaid got about a zillion dollars worth of free advertising from that magazine photo. I asked my crack research team to find out more about this sturdy-looking tub, which the Chargers have in multiples at their training headquarters. Turns out that those whose hobby is "ponding" -- creating and maintaining your own pond at home -- swear by these Rubbermaid tanks." Link.

If it's plastic, I'd be concerned about deterioration due to UV exposure while outdoors.

The rubbermaid tanks are formulated to be outside, for keeping fish, water and possibly feed. Many fish keepers use them for koi, grow out tanks and some people keep corals and what not in them. They are quite rugged.

We use these as watering troughs for our cows and horses.

We use these as watering troughs for our cows and horses. However we did place one upside down on the other and sawzalled a hole for access an our kids love to play in it.
