Konami is developing a music player that will be much like a tamagotchi, but live off your music collection. I think this will be a trend we see on a lot of devices soon, you'll feed them with your data, playlists, etc. to keep them going and coming back. I really wish Apple would open up their iPods so we could develop games and applications, for now you need install iPod Linux for anything like that. [via] Link.

2) Thousands of applications spring forth, including viruses

cell phones, psps, ds devices all seem to be getting by without virus issues. if the ipod used a macromedia flash player, the risk would extremely low - and with flash lite you could make tons of games and apps.
