Your MP3 player, the next Tamagotchi?
Konami is developing a music player that will be much like a tamagotchi, but live off your music collection. I think this will be a trend we see on a lot of devices soon, you'll feed them with your data, playlists, etc. to keep them going and coming back. I really wish Apple would open up their iPods so we could develop games and applications, for now you need install iPod Linux for anything like that. [via] Link.

Let's run through the "Apple opens their iPod" scenario.
1) Apple opens their iPod
2) Thousands of applications spring forth, including viruses
3) Apple pays support costs skyrocket as angry customers who screwed up their iPods blame Apple because they installed a virus.

cell phones, psps, ds devices all seem to be getting by without virus issues. if the ipod used a macromedia flash player, the risk would extremely low - and with flash lite you could make tons of games and apps.
