Here we go again - the second episode of ABC's American Inventor. Before we get started, be sure to check out our coverage of the two hour premiere and the forum where you can post about it. ABC is reporting that 37 million people watched last week.
And we're back, this week is Chicago. Meet the judges, these guys are hardcore - you know, one million dollars is on the line.
Invention #1: Chicago, Gas invention - no surprise, a fart invention to kick off the show. THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT. A flatulence deodorizer. Judges are on it, they want an noise muffler, not a smell killer. All no.
Invention #2: Chicago, Receivers training pole - This guys has 6 kids, we has to win he says. It's a pole attached to a football player so he catches the ball better. The judges like it. Ut oh, one judge wants volume! Marketing, the music changes! He's in! New music! Chest bumps!
Invention #3: A mash up - dog treadmill, fish bowl soda bottle, golf clubs, cup megaphone, nail system - the judges are not pleased. You can tell.
Invention #4: Chicago, Naked people - it's a bow that you wear, then take off. The judges don't like it. But 37 million people do, yay ratings! I think their invention is being naked.
Invention #5: Chicago, It's all about sacrifice - quitting jobs, selling wedding rings, sleeping in cars...Bullet ball and bullet ball extreme. One of the judges are going to play! It's on! Sad music...all he has is bullet ball. The judge says don't lose your mind. No.all.around. Man, this music is a downer.
Invention #6: LA, Public restroom lock - It keeps the peeps out. One judge throws some math, how many times are the doors locked, they all seem to think a lot. Yes all around, ok, clearly there is a restroom crisis in the USA, and this woman is going to save us.
Invention #7: LA, round yup - Video tattooed clothing, waterproof glove, pump bra.
Invention #8: LA, Nia doll, the first multicultural multilingual doll - she speaks many languages - oh man, the judges asked how much she's invested in this - the music is starting, yes, that music. One yes, one no, one yes...omg! it's down to one last judge, it's a yes! Tears all around!
Invention #9: Atlanta, 12 year old inventor - invisible tear gas. Ok, this kid is 12 and wants to make tear gas. He came up with the idea by accident, he tried it on his classmates. Yes sir. The judges say no. Might not be a good idea to say no to the kid who makes invisible tear gas.
Tear segment, lots of people crying. And then more people crying, followed by the crying montage.
Invention #10: Atlanta, Therapy Buddy - It's a stuffed blue person, it's your therapy buddy. A very gentle soothing creature. EVERYTHING IS GOING TO BE ALRIGHT. This thing is freaking creepy. The judge says if he needed a doll to tell him that, all is lost. All no. EVERYTHING IS GOING TO BE ALRIGHT.
We're back, in Chicago.
Invention #11: Chicago, The headliner - It absorbs the sweat from your head. She rips off her wig and shows them, anyone who wears a hat or helmet...Ok, one yes. One no. A yes! One last vote...Judge says it's not a big invention, oh man, heartless. OH MAN, NO. Judge fight! The British judge changes his mind! She's in!
Next episode, baby gear, kidneys given up, lifts, more tears!
I'll keep writing these up guys, but it's pretty hard - please buy MAKE or something, thx.

OK. I'll post. You've done a great job on this post.
I am thinking that I will like this show better once they get past the open casting calls. I think at least some of the inventions that get turned down would do well in a different forum. The tear gas is a good example; it's not good for ratings but maybe some government entity would like it. Bullet ball on the other hand... =)

I would like to address this comment to the woman that brought in her invention for Bald women "Headlinner", (A sweat collector to go under a wig) Great Idea, but not a big enough buyers market try to make it work under a BASEBALL CAP! I sweat and so do most over weight men and I wear a Baseball Cap all the time, and so do MILLIONS OF AMERICANS. However our caps gets sweaty and smelly and if you wash it more than three or four times it loses its shape, WOW what a great way to help our BASEBALL caps stay in shape and not get so smelly, imagine all the Basket ball games and Base ball games even Football games having a booth with your "CAP BUDDYS" on display for purchases, I think it is a GREAT IDEA and the market is Huge in America!! I WANT TO SEE THIS PRODUCT AVAILABLE.!!

Just a little letter commenting on the Orlando Open Casting - you know - the one that ABC never booked that I drove 900 miles one way for.

Below in bold is the copy of the e-mail that was sent to my home computer while I was away at the American Inventor 2 Orlando Open Casting on April 10, 2007. You'll notice that the e-mail was sent to me on the evening of April 10, 2007. The Amercianinventor.tv web site advertised this venue weeks ago for April 9th then changed it to April 10, 2007. I booked a hotel in Orlando for this weeks ago. I booked it for Saturday April 7, 2007 through Saturday, April 14, 2007. I did this because I wanted to make sure that I got there well in advance to make sure that I knew where to go and to also have the extra time, should I have had a China man's chance in hell as to having my invention picked and having to spend the extra two or three days that might be needed as was recommended by your web site. I took off a weeks vacation from work to cover this time with pay. I drove 900 miles from Maryland to Orlando in traffic in 16 and 1/2 hours to get there. I went to the Disney Contemporary Resort as per your venue listing one day prior on Monday morning, April 9, 2007 just to make sure where the event was being held and what kind of courtesy parking there would be when I got there on Tuesday morning of the event. The Disney Guest Check-in Desk had no knowledge of the event or of any booking by ABC for the American Inventor 2 Event. They were kind enough to take our information. And yes, there were other people there from Georgia and South Carolina doing the same thing that I was doing there. And I understand it that there were also numerous phones calls concerning the same thing. The Disney employees apologized profusely for ABC's mis-managed snafu of this event. They said that they would call me later in the afternoon after they had gotten in touch with ABC in California concerning this to find out just what was going on. They did get back to me to let me know that they were told that this event would take place later in April, but that it would not be at their resort, but would be in Tampa instead. Disney was also kind enough to inform us that anyone who happened to be staying at one of their Disney Resorts for this event that didn't take place would get a full refund of their hotel booking. Now that was very nice of them, but it didn't help me or the others that showed up like me, because we weren't booked at one of their Resorts. So, I myself lost a weeks' pay, a non refundable weeks' hotel stay, food for two for a week and the cost of fuel for traveling about 200 miles. All of these expenses total over $2500, but above all it really disappoints me that I didn't even get my chance to audition. So, here it is Saturday night, April 14, 2007. I just got back home. It only took me a little less than 16 hours driving back home from Orlando. You should have had your cameras rolling at the Disney Resort when myself and others that showed up like me found out from Disney that you never even booked there. It was a real good "Gotcha" for us. It's a real let down that such a big corporation has such managing issues. My Provisional Patent that I applied for is only good for twelve months. I thought that would have been plenty of time to try out for this years' show. So, it looks like it will run out before I get another chance should you go for an American Inventor 3 in another year. Thanks ABC.

Why is the accuracy of the LASERBALL so valuable? Why do golfers need to know their "true putting accuracy"? Therefore, by removing the "ground's effect" upon the golf ball during putting practice. The golfer is then able (perhaps for the first time) to "see" what has otherwise been "obscured, or hidden" by the ground (how well you really putt). Finally, the AGE OLD question can be answered: "Is it my putting that SUCKS?" or " Is it the ground (and/or my ability to read it) that SUCKS?" Simple deduction.

2. The best form of evaluating one's putting is - SEEING what you're DOING!
