John writes - "Quick Altoids tin magnetic camera mount. Used the other night to make a video with a camcorder attatched to the roof of my truck. Comforting to know that three to eleven dollars worth of stuff was holding on my expensive (at the time) camcorder to the roof of my truck as I drove around town with it. Pics and video included." - Link.

nice, i think i would try and have less spare thread between the camera and the Altoids box, make sure the Altoids box is glued shut, and put a safety line on it, (something you can slam into a car door just in case it comes loose. thin layer of duct-tape on the bottom of the tin may help keep you from scratching the car.
