The real advantage to this is you can give it to very young kids who still have a habit of putting things in their mouth. All you do is increase the salt in the recepie, and as soon as they stick the dough in their mouth they’ll be quick to spit it back out. I’d recommend using this method for your own childs first batch of play dough, as it’ll quickly train them to not try and eat any play dough or clay they receive in the future. Once you are sure they aren’t going to be sticking the clay in their mouths be sure to lower the salt content back to what the recepie recommends or lower. The salt content will dry out skin, so wash your childs hands (and possibly apply lotion of they can keep their hands out of their mouths) after playing with the increased salt dough.

Always remember to wear gloves when adding food coloring to play dough, if not your hands will be dyed the color that you are using. Use unsweetened coolaid (3 packages per batch) the colors are vivde and it makes the dough smell great
