Stitch 'N Bitch Crochet - Book Review

Happyhooker Make fan and all around crafty gal, Dolin "Crochet" O'Shea of lulubliss.com recommends the new crafty book, "Stitch 'N Bitch Crochet: The Happy Hooker" by Bust Magazine's Debbie Stoller. She explains, "The sketches and explanation's are very clear and she shows you exactly how to count the stitches and where to stitch. Other books I have read don't explain this, yet it is very important. Her writing style keeps you interested and the patterns are very up to date. My favorite patterns are the prepster (a tailored little sweater jacket), fat bottom bag (cute 40's looking bag), and the fluffy bunny slippers (because a girl needs a cute pair of bunny slippers)." You can also catch Dolin at the Maker Faire where she will be teaching a session on "Hip Needlepoint". Link.

I'm going to have to partly disagree with Dolin. The "The Happy Hooker" has some great patterns, but I think the explanations are weak. Stoller's writing style is way too cutesy and she's definitely trying to hard to make everything hip instead of just making it clear. But like I said, great patterns. The fat bottom bag is fantastic. And some of the patterns use cheap yarn which is refreshing considering the ridiculous cost of the yarn from other patterns.
Worth buying but probably only if you already crochet, in my opinion.
