Custom-built MIDI controller

Dolbymidicontroller
Peter writes - "A custom builder assembled a home-grown MIDI controller for Thomas Dolby by retrofitting some old equipment (with fantastic knobs and dials and things) with MIDI transmission capability. Dolby can actually play software instruments by adjusting the huge knobs. Should inspire DIYers to scrounge around for old gear." - Link.

What this guy destroyed to make this prop was a General Radio 650A impedance bridge, a very useful tool if one is building radios and such. I can't say I think this is a good idea, although these bridges aren't what you'd call rare. Now if the one he had was already dead, that's much less a problem for me.

I don't know whether it was in working order or not. Can't find any additional details.
