I can see a clip on ferrite being used as a audio input in the photo I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to modify one to pick up audio from a line?

You didn't use an amplifier or anything, PT?
I have tried to record from my DS (original fatty) to my Powerbook (jacking up the line in even) and haven't had anywhere near the sound quality (in terms of sound-level) that you did. Sounds great!
