Theodore Gray over on Popular Science launched a model rocket using Oreo cookies as fuel (Potassium perchlorate) - " Food contains an amazing amount of energy. suggests potassium nitrate is safer than potassium chlorate. Indeed, you get twice the links & more useful info if you google "potassium nitrate sugar rocket" than ..chlorate.
