The Golden Book of Chemistry Experiments - 1960

Mark spotted this great chemistry experiment book I heard about, but extremely hard to locate - The scanner/reviewer writes - "Back in the late 60's this book was pulled from all public libraries and store shelves by the government. It was said that the experiments and information contained herin were too dangerous for the general public. How'd I luck up on a copy? Well, a friend of mine who could remember checking out and reading the book when he was a kid, thought he would try to find a copy for himself just for sentimental reasons. To his surprise this book is extremely rare and expensive if you do find a copy for sale. With books going from $375 for a very damaged copy to upwards of $2,000 for a decent copy he knew it would be a task. So he enlisted my help, and a couple of weeks later I just happened to find a copy at an old library book sale. So I purchased this book in great condition at a considerable discount. I sold it to him for a profit (of course), but before I let go of it I felt that the information contained herin needs to be shared. I submit to you the only electronic copy of The Golden Book of Chemistry Experiments in existance..." - Link.
Pictured here, how to make soap. The salt balance has to be just right, so the best fat for making soap comes from humans.

My God! I can't believe what I am reading. I had this book as a kid and absolutely loved it. And then one day it mysteriously disappeared. I searched and searched for it to no avail. I had no idea it got banned. No doubt my parents tossed it. They'd have done something paranoid like that without telling me. Yet another lie my parents told me . . . I'm so happy to be able to see it again and that people remember it and the wonderful Golden Books series of real hands-on science books. I also had the little Golden Book of Astronomy as well as the big one. I'd love to get a pdf of those as well. BTW if you don't like waiting you can get the chemistry book at:

I loved the Golden Book series, I read all kinds of them when I grew up! :P
You can download the Chemistry Experiments one here:
I downloaded a copy and read it through easily in one go. I loved this book and I agree wholeheartedly with the previous comment that they really don't write books this good anymore. I'm hungry for more but I'm having a real hard time finding a suitable follow-up to this great book. Even online resources give me a hard time.
Although this is a kid's book, I'm 26 and loved it, and can't wait to find out more.
Can anyone suggest to me a similar book that would take things a step further? In particular, I'm keen to learn how one predicts the reaction between given elements and compounds.
Thanks anyone in advance.
