Cool idea. It's annoying to have the lock knocking around the inside of the bag.
Mounting it under the flap closure, over the pencil/wallet pocket (for Timbuk2) might make opening the flap less cumbersome.

I've got something simillar on my courier bag, except that its placed higher on the flap so it can be used and a handle when not slung over your back.
