I would think it would be a little akward reaching in there to grab cash while in public

"that will be 10.47"
"just a momment while I undo my belt, there we go (reaches down pants). Heres 11.00, keep the change"

Didn't you ever see Blazing Saddles? The proper way to execute this maneuver is by stating "Excuse me while I whip this out."
