I remember this book in my local library - it had TONS of really great pages, but I was more taken by the hand-lettered text. (I even tried to make their "Dixie Cup" lampshade, but lacked the skill at the time. Now I know to use clothespins before the glue dries!) I do believe there is a photo spread in the book of a 1960s Volkswagen Beetle balanced on 4 of their cardboard coffee tables. I haven't seen this book in 30 years, so I may be mistaken...
"Nomadic Furniture" is a GEM of a book. I have been searching for it for years. I can't believe someone finally posted it here! Yay!

Forgive me, I was only eight years old when I first saw this book, so you'll understand how I couldn't eBay for this WHEN I DIDN'T WRITE DOWN THE BOOK TITLE 32 YEARS AGO. I've been poking around in used bookshops for the brown hardcopy that I remember from my childhood.
But now that I know what the title of the book is, *thank you Greg!*, you can be sure I will hop on over to that swell link that you posted, Mesach! Boy, what a help *you've* been! Who knew that there were such kind people out there, just swooning over Luddites such as myself! Why, it's ever a wonder I made it here at all!

Man my da had both the nomadic furniture books and we had modified plywood versions of the car seats when I was little in the early 70s these books are still great resources even today. I just bought new copies last year. Plus the cool "Hi-Fi" equipment in them is awesome. Too bad most all the suppliers are long gone or in nordic europe.

The Hennessey and Papanek books are classics. I bought them all when I was in college and even built quite a few of the designs. Great cheap furniture and a lot of ideas.
