MAKE Flickr photo pool member Fibra writes - "This is homebuilt CrackleBox. Probably the oldest analog glitch/noise synthesizer. It is based on very rare opamp IC 709. Everything is housed in the cuban cigar box. I cut out oval "Romeo & Julieta" logo from the top cover and glued hand shaped steel grid cone for speaker protection. For touchpad contacts I used 7 screws (original STEIM box has 6) forming V for ergonomicaly 2 hand playing smilar as on the original box built in 1970ties by STEIM." - Link. For more info on the original CrackleBox check crackle.org.

I have a question... how do you solder onto screws?? im doing a project similar to this and i cant get solder to stick to screws... is there something on the screws thats preventing it or should i get a different type of solder.

There is no problem soldering to the screws but you need powerfull enough solering iron. If it is not strong enough to heat the screw heat it a bit with lighter. If you screws have some protective layer you could see it. Also, try another screws to see could you make it.
I`ve publish inner photo of crackle box for you and you can see it here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/fibra/242244176/
