I believe the originator of this idea is Stan Swan in NZ, specifically Petals.jpg

Now, can anyone recommend a combination of (particular) Linux distribution and (particular) 802.11 USB dongle that work well together, out-of-the-box, stock, no-foolin'-around, plug-and-play, etc?
I've tried a few with no success, but a) I'm a perpetual newbie, and "just recompile driver z and kernel Q" aren't very helpful ;) and b) darnit, shouldn't this just work for at least *some* USB wireless dongles? I know it's the fault of the manufacturers for not releasing the information needed to driver writers (or releasing drivers themselves) but one day I'd like to be able to recommend a live CD to people that would work with wireless via USB.
Any recommendations?

I used a large salad bowl. Stainless steel, with a D link usb. Works great. Went from 2 sites to 6. Two marked default.
