Pillowcase writes - "For those who like WiFi and/or wardriving - I found a sweet rig inside an old linksys router that is a PC Card WiFi adaptor, a couple pigtails and the antennas for it - all for $5 or whatever you can find the router for... Usually just pigtail cables cost $30+ each" - Link.

Nice hack, but I think the price estimate for the pigtail cable is a little high. I usually don't pay more than $5 for them (in germany at tronico.net for example, I don't know the prices in the us, though...)

I tried this way back in the day. Windows will recognize the card but it just doesn't work after that.

it's probably worth noting the version number on the linksys. in the article he uses a befw11s4, but it's probably a very early revision, v1 or v2. i tore apart my v4 to find that it no longer used a pcmcia card, and the antennas were soldered on.
the version number can be found on the underside of the unit.
