I think they could cut down on the 32kg (70lb) weight of the unit by using a more appropriate battery. They're also going to greatly shorten the life of the car battery by running it flat over and over.

A nice Gel Cell would be safer and lighter. Also particle board? Good grief at least use some plywood. It would be a lot stronger for the weight.
