Not surprising it would seem organic. The inventor modeled Velcro after burrs that stuck to his socks during walks. A decent explanation: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Velcro
I would guess that a closeup of a burr stuck to a fabric would look very similar. - There's an ok picture of a burdock hook here - it might look familiar: http://www.countrysideinfo.co.uk/seed_dispersl/animals.htm
