My wife and I have a similar table, except it only has enough storage for our remotes. It's really nice to eat or work on our couch without having to hunch over, and people think I'm a magician when I lift the top of my table up.

I would love to see plans for a similar table 90% of my meals are in the livingroom...the dinner table is used as a setting down of everything place.

This would be a pretty easy mod to an existing flip-top coffee table. Does anybody know what kind of hinge that is? I can't seem to find anything.

Check out Lee Valley for the hardware. www.leevalley.com .
They have a Pop-Up Table Mechanism listed for $124.00 (listed in their latest catalog as product # 12K95.10)
They'll send you free catalogs too (they have three, Woodworking Tools, Hardware, and Garden Tools) if you ask them.
They have old fashioned values, ie. great service, quick shipment of products. Much recommended.
