Andy Ihnatko did something like this for a MacWorld speech to show off the fun of Automator. The difference is that his version inverts the image to white on black, so the stuff you want to see shows up on the window, and the background does not.

Hi, there're many ways to follow a driving map. In Japan, we always see a map with north head, so we turn a map every time when I turn a corner. Always, north must be at the top. In the US, when I rent a car, I'm always very confused, because the direction ahead is always at the top. I wish there could be a map which always turn for north head...Can you make it?
