Open source MP3 player + Jackhammer headphones = good

Here's a quickie - like peanut butter and chocolate, peas and carrots, sodium and chloride - homemade headphones and open source MP3 players go great together...

Somehow I've managed to acquire boxes of cheap headphones, probably from airplanes or from some gadgets that came with them. You can get "safety headphones" at thrift stores, or just about anywhere - usually for under $10.

These headphones are super cheap, so I tied the cord in a knot - otherwise it would eventually split.

Next up, pop off or cut the headphones off - tuck them in the safety headphones, that's really it. You can leave the foam on, off, put behind the safety foam - try everything to see which one works best.

Here we go - perfect for that next noisy flight. I can't hear anything with these on, besides the music / podcast - it's wonderful - photos.

Very cool.

But with the current hysteria I doubt the open-source MP3 player in the perspex box is going to impress airport security.

Great idea! I recently flew and gave up my ipod for the use of ear plugs, but this is the best of both worlds. Thanks for posting. (FYI> I thought the same thing as coder about getting that clear box through security ;)
