The number plate from the car in the background is from Worbis, a town in the area of Eichsfeld in Thüringen. The town has only 4,600 inhabitants so that cut´s it down a bit!
btw there´s a lot of wood motorbike makers around so certainly one or two would be available for questions.

The photo you showed in http://www.makezine.com/blog/archive/2006/04/wood_motorcycle.html is a fake. The thing in the back with the photoshoped "Alabama" is in fact a German bus stop. The faker only bothered to photoshop one of the two advertisements for German newspapers. You can still see the second advertising to the right of the photoshoped "Alabama" sign in the fake picture.
The photo you now have seems much more consistent. The license plate on the car to the left of the bus stop starts with "WBS". This stands for "Worbis", which is a town with ~4000 inhabitants in the state of Thüringen / Germany. And that matches the newspaper advertising, which is for the Thüringische Landeszeitung.
Further, a comment in the link mentiones that the back tyre is a car tyre from VEB Vulkanisierwerk Leinefelde. This was a tyre manufacturer in the former DDR. And Leinefelde is a town near Worbis.
This is in fact the second Holzmotorrad (wooden motorcycle) I have seen from Germany. The other one can be seen at http://www.holz-bleibt-holz.de/6495.html That other one was build by carpenters.

The words on the rear of the frame read something like "Bitte Rangier...". This very likely stands for "Bitte Rangierabstand einhalten!", which means something like "Please keep space to manoeuvre!"

@ Smithe-Wells: Deuna having around 1000 inhabitants, I would guess that the first electrician you get hold of, would know "the guy from his town with the wooden bike"

Hey Guys
My name is Mathias and I come from Deuna in "good ol´ Germany". The Wood Motorcycle on the Picture is made by me. The Build takes about 9 months. Like a child :-) It´s a Honda CB250 RS engine with 22 Horsepowers inside. It´s enough for a topspeed over 75mph.
