It's a very cool hack. I just did one with an old olympus camera. Unfortunately, the focusing seems to be shot because of the missing thickness of the ir-cutting glass.

Take a look at my IR camera modification which keeps the autofocus

We followed his instruction and did the hack to a Zippo size spy camera :-)
