The Haunted Report

The Haunted Report is a great Halloween site that covers just about everything going on in the Halloween arena - reviews, news, costumes, haunt attractions, etc... They also have an interview series called "Masters of Horror", their first interview is with Midnight Syndicate "Composer Edward Douglas created Midnight Syndicate in 1996. In 1998, fellow composer Gavin Goszka joined the group and they have since released several critically acclaimed and highly successful gothic horror soundtracks. Synonymous with the horror music genre, Midnight Syndicate has established a worldwide following with their signature sound. You can find their CD's at Party City and Spencer's all across the US..." - Link.

TRON Costume - MAKE & CRAFT contest entry

MAKE Flickr photo pool member Mozzwald entered his costume in our contest, it's TRON! Check it out and how he made it! - "Here's my Tron costume. It's not exactly like the original from the movie, but close enough. Spandex shirt and pants for runners. Frisbee for the disc with magnets to hold it onto the back of the shirt. PVC pipe cut to be armor/shoulder pads. Old 70's/80's hockey helmet similar to the one used for the movie. Combat boots. All this was painted grey and then the blue designs hand painted. All the blue is then covered with blue glow in the dark clear paint. The glow paint was bought online and can hold it's "charge" for 8 hours. It looks extremely great under a blacklight." - Link.

Weekend Project Podcast: Shadow Puppet Monsters
Halloween is coming and it's time to get creative and make some monsters that will do your bidding.
In this video, you'll learn how to use paper and polycarbonate (lexan) to make shadow puppets. Then you'll learn how to make a shadow theater. If you make a puppet show, make sure to take pictures and upload them to the Make flickr pool.
I learned everything I know about shadow puppets from my from the amazing Deb Chase of the Oregon Shadow Theatre. If you get into shadow puppets, you should watch a Lotte Reiniger's classic Prince Achmed.
Click here to get the video (MP4) delivered automatically with iTunes. This video will play on PC/Mac/Linux/PSPs and iPod video devices. Also for your viewing pleasure - HD, 3gp, 3g2, and Blip.
I was on the set of Craft Lab with this project earlier this week. Jennifer Perkins was a blast to make tv with!

HOW TO - Make a LED Dot-Matrix display

Pinski1 has a great Instructable in the MAKE group on building a LED display... - "This is a simple HOW-TO make your own personalised LED Dot-Matrix display. I will be adding the complete program with an explaination to light the LEDs with. It's also rather hackable, you can change it to suit yourself.
I decieded to make my own dot matrix display because they look cool, and none can be found in blue, which is the best colour, so I decided, may as well make it myself." - Link.
