It is entirely microcontroller (PIC16F630) based and is ideal for the majority of people who are forbidden to modify the locks on their doors, as this simply uses string and a stepper motor to pull the handle.     haha, first thing i thought of when i saw the very mechanical integration was “that reminds me of how dheera would do it.” then i saw the author…that’s a far superior option to getting yelled at by rui for dismantling your lock.

    My brother did something like this years ago at Michigan State University. He modified his deadbolt so it could be operated using a key fob. Check it out:
