Flex-Radio SDR-1000 - Open source software radio

Sdr1K-Enc Large
Zack writes in about his Flex-Radio SDR-1000 - "This is an amateur HF 100 watt transceiver that is completely software driven. The software and updates are all free. There are NO controls on the box itself except a power switch. Users are encouraged to write their own software to control the radio as it is open source and in fact many do. It requires a high-end sound card like the Presonus Firebox to make it work. On of the amazing things about the radio is that you can record up to 192khz (dependent on the soundcard) of radio spectrum and upon replaying it tune around in that 192khz swath!

Flexradio has a demo version of the software that can be downloaded called Testdrive PowerSDR. It lets you play with the features without having to own the radio - Link.

They also have a very active discussion group. To view visit here - Link.

A lot of the user written software is located here - Link.

To see a review of the radio from QST by the ARRL go here - Link.

I own one of these and have to say that it is the coolest ham radio that I have ever owned. I have no connection with the company but am a very happy user." - Link.

I was very pleased to see the link to our SolderSmoke Podcast. Just wanted to note that we've moved. The older episodes can still be heard on the Ourmedia site listed in the MakeBlog, but for newer episodes, please go to http://www.soldersmoke.com

Thanks!
