Fun with micro-controllers!

MAKE Flickr photo pool member Steven and Sarah write - "Exploring micro-controllers with the Arduino NG development system. Seen here running in standalone mode with a 9V battery. Arduino makes embedded programming fun and easy by bringing together a clean and simple hardware and software development environment.

Here, I'm messing with reading analog input from a 10k potentiometer and PWM (pulse width modulation) of leds to produce variable brightness." - Link.

I bought my Arduino two months ago, and boy am I enjoying it. I've wanted to try microcontroller programming for some time, but was put off by the cost of a development board, programmer, and software. The Arduino's $30ish pricetag made me take the leap. I now have the Arduino commanding a Rumble Robots drive unit. Once I get some sensors working, I'll have a legit autonomous robot--it's a dream project!

Hey, that's me! That picture is part of my preparation for setting up an RFID doorlock system. It's based on the free RFID Toys chapter at http://www.rfidtoys.net/bonus.asp but I'll be using an arduino/atmega8 setup and Limor's/Ladyada's Minty Boost 5v power system to run it.

I'll post more pics to the make group as I go about getting my RFID implant, and start building the board and installing. I'll also include a link in the pics to my blog where I'll include schematics and arduino code.
