Nice writeup.
I just saw the Pololu booth at the SRS Robothon last weekend. These gearboxes looked really nice but I didn't think I had the time or equipment to make a chassis for them. You nicely show how easy it can be to make one.
I'm going to look into building one when I finish up a few projects I've got in progress.
