UPDATE: We just got word in from the organizers that due to some really awful weather hitting NYC, the event is now canceled, sorry folks!

Ok Makers and Crafters, if you're in the NYC area we hope to see you here! MAKE & CRAFT will be at this event with lots of surprises!

NEW YORK-- Halloween in NYC is about to change... Bringing together decades of inspiration on New York City's favorite holiday, a group of artists and community theater producers are launching a brand-new "participatory theater" festival: Tompkins Scare Park, Saturday, October 28th, 2006, 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. (Map).

The fest features a diverse cast of downtown talent that will entertain and engage participants with shows, music, exhibits and interactive diversions meant to inspire all. Family-friendly by day and spookier by night, expect humorous interactions and decadent revelry -- embracing both the playful spirit of the holiday as well as serious artistic endeavors. Featuring kid-created art, multiple activity areas, colorful processions and outrageous competitions, there will be much to see, experience and do.

"Halloween is big fun, helps people discover the inner artist and brings communities closer together" says Executive Director Jim Glaser. "The East Village is the natural world capital of Halloween," continues Producer Robert Prichard. "After all, it's Halloween every day in the East Village. We will haunt the park with art, dance and music as only East Villagers know how."
